Blanchet, now 24, completed his apprenticeship under Thierry Maffre-Boge at La Petite France in Provence a few months before flying to Bali to open a restaurant at his parents' quaint Hotel Bali Pearl in Seminyak in May 2009.
It has since spread further into the beautiful garden and can now seat 40. As for the food, what Maffre-Boge didn't teach him, Blanchet has learned on the job. Over 24 courses served to eight people on two nights, not one dish misses the mark. Bali offers such a diversity of eating experiences that many visitors are boggled by choice and equate high-end prices with a guarantee of quality. These two young French chefs prove the very best food can be affordable, if you take the time to seek it out

A breath of French air in Bali at a bargain price

IF there's a global financial crisis in Bali, someone forgot to tell the developers, who continue to expand the urban sprawl of Kuta from the backblocks of Kerobokan to the high cliffs of the Bukit.

And, with Bali still one of the cheapest beach holiday options on offer, whatever massive hotel complexes or chic $2000-a-night spa resorts they build, they seem to fill.
But what if you want really cheap chic, like back in the day when you needed a torch to get from Kuta to Legian and for $10 a night you were living in luxury? Does it still exist?
Short answer, no. But the recently opened Bali Pearl Hotel, a few blocks off the beach in the heart of Seminyak, is a step in the right direction (that is, backwards). Only in price, mind you. About $80 (cash only, thanks) will get you its best suite: spacious, airconditioned and with a huge deck overlooking pool and garden. There are only two of these included in the 10 rooms on offer; the others grade down to about $50 for a smallish affair on the ground floor.

BALI PEARL HOTEL - FRENCH RESTAURANT

In 2007 we opened a boutique hotel and its gourmet French restaurant.

It is located in Jalan Double Six-Legian-Bali which is the perfect location for customers willing to discover Legian and Seminyak area without having to rent a car or a motorbike. Indeed the closest beach is located at a 5 minutes walking distance; there are also many shops and restaurants around this area which are offering wide range of type of cuisine.

 

In contrary to many Balinese resorts our guests benefit of a human-sized hotel. 

Sixteen bungalows are surrounding the tropical garden and pool.

 

Away from the traffic, noises and the crowd; travelers looking for quietness and relaxation will enjoy our place.

 

The Pearl is a boutique Hotel; nevertheless it offers many hospitality services such as a Spa providing different type of treatments; free Wi-Fi for in-house guests; tour organization, we can also arrange the airport pick up to our Hotel.

 

More than a standard Hotel, we promote human relationships; our staff and management team is always willing to help. If you are a first timer in Bali, we will be happy to give you some tips about what to do and see during your stay.
